Discipleship sometimes can be too complicated. Lot’s of meetings, sharing the Gospel, ministering to people. There are a lot of things to do when we hear the word Discipleship. But when Jesus started it in His time He made it simple for the people. Just follow.
“Just follow” means…
1. When we get close to Him we fall in love with Him. Jesus desires the people will feel God’s compassion and love. His kindness turns people into repentance. (Romans 2:4)
2. Proximity is more important than performance. God knows that when we get close to Him our hearts become His heart. When we get close to a person we would know His will and we will realize how much he forgave and cleanse us from our sins. By the way, God initiated the connection before any of us followed Him. (Romans 5:8)
3. It’s simple but not easy. Following Him can mean realizing the things that we are doing before should go. It’s simple to follow, but it will not be easy. There will be cost as we follow Jesus. (Mark 8:34) But I believe the cost is nothing compared to what Jesus did for us and the glory of what will happen as follow Jesus. (Philippians 3:8)
